The origin of this cat breed is a bit of a mystery. Some people believe that this cat may in fact be the product of a mating between the wild American Bobcat and a domestic cat.

There is no evidence to suggest that this theory is true. It must be said however, that this cat has a strong resemblance to the wild Bobcat.
